Wateera — Privacy Policy

Wateera is a daily-routine app whose timeline is the six prayer windows instead of the 24-hour clock. It runs entirely on your iPhone.
Wateera collects nothing. Not "as little as possible" — nothing. There is no account, there is no server, and the app never sends your data anywhere. Nobody, including us, can see a single thing you type into it.
To be exact rather than merely reassuring: Wateera is built on a shared code library that also serves another of our apps, and that library carries a networking component. Wateera never starts it — the configuration it would need to reach a server is deliberately absent from the app, so there is no address for it to send anything to. The only network connection the app can cause is the one Apple makes on its own behalf when you buy a subscription, and that exchange is between you and Apple.
This page is short because there is very little to describe. Everything it says is checkable against the app itself.

Why there is nothing to describe
Three ordinary features of a habit app are absent here on purpose, and their absence is what makes this page short:
- There is no sign-in. Wateera has no user accounts. Your data cannot be attached to a name, an email address or an identifier, because it never leaves the device that made it.
- There is no back end. Wateera does not connect to a server we operate. It has none to connect to.
- There is no measurement. No analytics SDK, no attribution SDK, no crash reporter, no remote configuration, no embedded browser fetching a remote page, no font or asset downloaded at runtime.
The only network activity connected with Wateera is Apple's own: when you buy or restore a subscription, iOS talks to the App Store on your behalf. That exchange is between you and Apple. We never see it.
Your location — the one permission Wateera asks for
Prayer times depend on where you are on the Earth. Wateera therefore offers to read your location, and here is exactly what happens when you agree:
- iOS gives the app one coordinate, once, at roughly kilometre accuracy — the app deliberately asks for no better, because a prayer time does not change across a neighbourhood.
- That coordinate is written into the app's own private container on your iPhone, next to your other settings.
- It is used as the input to an astronomical calculation that runs on your iPhone — the sun's position for your latitude and date. There is no prayer-time API, no key and no request. The calculation is part of the app.
The coordinate is never uploaded, never logged off the device, never attached to an identifier, and never shared. Wateera asks for When In Use access only — never Always — and it does not track you in the background.
You can refuse. Declining is a fully supported path, not a broken one: Settings offers a built-in city list that produces the same coordinate by hand, and every part of the app works identically. Nothing is withheld from a user who says no.
You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wateera.
What Wateera stores on your device
All of the following lives in a database inside the app's own container on your iPhone, protected by iOS file protection:
- Your habits and routines, their names, symbols, colours and quantities
- Every completion, skip and note you record, and the day it belongs to
- Your schedule anchors — "20 minutes after Fajr" and the like
- Your streaks and your year grid
- Your settings: chosen city or coordinate, calculation method, madhhab, language, numerals, appearance, reminder preferences
We cannot read any of it. There is no copy anywhere else.
You can export all of it whenever you like — Settings → Your data → Export writes one lossless JSON document plus a CSV per table, and you can send it wherever you want. It is your log and it leaves with you.
One honest caveat about backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Apple's backup includes Wateera's container, the same as every other app's. That backup is made by iOS, held by Apple under Apple's terms, and encrypted. We have no access to it and no involvement in it. Turn Wateera off in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups if you would rather it were not included.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled by iOS on your device, from the times the app calculated locally. The text is composed on the phone, in the language you chose inside Wateera.
There are no push notifications, no notification server and no device token. Wateera does not register for remote notifications at all. If your phone is in Airplane mode, your reminders still arrive.
Subscriptions
Wateera Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription, sold and processed by Apple under your Apple Account.
Wateera never sees your card, your billing address, your name or your Apple ID. It asks StoreKit, on the device, whether an active entitlement exists, and StoreKit answers yes or no. Nothing about your purchase reaches us, because there is nowhere for it to reach.
Apple's handling of that transaction is described in Apple's own privacy policy.
What Wateera does not contain
Stated explicitly, because "we don't do that" is easy to write and worth being specific about:
- No Google Analytics, Firebase, Meta SDK, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Sentry, Crashlytics or anything of that kind.
- No advertising, no ad network, no advertising identifier, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt — because there is nothing to ask permission for.
- No profiling and no automated decision-making about you.
- No fingerprinting, and no persistent identifier of any kind sent anywhere.
- No health data. Wateera does not read from or write to Apple Health.
- No contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, camera or motion data.
- No sharing with data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else. There is no mechanism in the app capable of doing it.
Deleting everything
In the app: Settings → Your data → Erase everything. It removes your habits, routines, history and settings from the device permanently. Wateera offers you an export first.
Or simply delete the app. Deleting Wateera removes its container and everything in it. Nothing of yours exists anywhere else — there is no account to close, no server row to purge and no request to send us, because we never had a copy.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or erase on request. That is not a way of declining — it is the consequence of the design, and the app puts the controls in your hands instead: export is one tap and erasure is two.

If you are in Saudi Arabia, the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and its Implementing Regulations apply to the processing of personal data. Wateera performs no collection, transfer or disclosure of personal data as those terms are used in the PDPL: your location and your log are processed solely on your own device, by software under your control, and are not transferred to us or to any third party. You may contact the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) if you believe a Saudi personal-data right of yours has been affected.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the GDPR (and UK GDPR) applies. We do not act as a controller or a processor of your personal data, because we neither receive nor have access to any. No data leaves your device, so there is no international transfer, no processor, no recipient and no retention period on our side. Where a controller relationship could arise at all, our legal basis would be performance of the contract of providing the app (Article 6(1)(b)). You retain the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA applies. Wateera does not collect personal information, does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, does not use sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics, and offers no financial incentive for data. There is no category of personal information to disclose, because there is none.
Children
Wateera is not directed at children under 13 and cannot knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age, because it collects nothing. It contains no advertising and no third-party content.
Security
The strongest security property Wateera has is that there is nothing to attack: no account to compromise, no database of ours to breach, and no traffic to intercept. On the device, your data is protected by iOS file protection and by your passcode or biometric lock, like every other app's.
If a security issue in the app itself is ever discovered, we will describe it and ship a fix, and we will notify the relevant regulator if the law requires it.
Changes
If a future version of Wateera ever collects anything at all, this page will say so plainly and the app will tell you before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version. A version of this policy that still says "collects nothing" is a promise about the app that carries it.
